Lenny Kravitz owns Andy Warhol’s red sitting chair, and that, my friend, is hella cool.
If you’re anything like me, then you’re deeply infatuated with pop culture, celebrities, and everything in between. You’re fascinated with any information out there, especially when it comes to how famous people live their lives beyond the spotlight.
I love, love, LOVE learning how famous people decorate their homes, what kind of unique elements they add, and how they live day to day.
Some things are pretty extravagant, eccentric, and luxurious, and only things you’d find in a celebrity’s home.
So, here are some of the most fascinating behind-the-scenes facts about celebrity homes that’ll make you say: “Yup, these folks are DEFINITELY famous.”
1.
Lenny Kravitz has a MASSIVE farm on his property in Brazil, filled with animals like horses and cattle. Whenever family, friends, band members, and celebrity guests visit him, he serves them farm-to-table meals (a true organic king).
And being the incredible musician/artist he is, Kravitz also owns a Kawai plexiglass piano (aka a hella cool transparent piano) that once belonged to Old Hollywood star Ingrid Bergman. In his music listening space, he typically sits in a red chair once owned by late artist Andy Warhol.
2.
Jay-Z, a longtime admirer of late artist Jean-Michel Basquiat, has at least one Basquiat painting hanging in his home shared with Beyoncé. In 2013, Jay-Z bought Basquiat’s painting “Mecca” from 1982 for $4.2 million.
3.
Before her home tour with Architectural Digest, Ashley Tisdale’s bookshelves were completely empty. So, she sent her husband out to buy a bunch of books to fill them up — how many books did he buy, you ask? Four hundred (you read that right: 400 BOOKS for a home tour).
4.
Mariah Carey’s closet in her Tribeca apartment isn’t a typical closet situation — not only does she have a giant walk-in, but she has various rooms in her closet to organize her luxurious items. One room is for gowns and dresses, another room is for shoes, and one room is strictly for lingerie — another celeb-centric item she has in her apartment? Marilyn Monroe’s white piano from her childhood.
Here’s what Carey’s closet looked like in the same apartment 20 years ago on MTV Cribs, for comparison’s sake:

On Barbra Streisand’s California property, she doesn’t have just one house — she has four buildings. Outside one of the buildings (a barn where she records music), there’s a tranquil, color-coordinated pond. In her book My Passion for Design, she wrote: “Since the houses are barn red [and] trimmed with black and white, the fish [in the pond], of course, have to be black and white — right?”
6.
Like Barbra Streisand, every color in Kim Kardashian’s home in Calabasas is chosen with a purpose. The interior and exterior of her house strictly contain neutral colors, like cream, gray, and black. So, Kardashian decided to make her basketball court and luxurious cars cream, gray, and black in order to match the house and its overall aesthetic.
7.
Not only does Naomi Campbell have four pools (yes, FOUR POOLS) in her beautiful Kenyan villa, but she’s also built a spa. Inspired by the late Henri Chenot (a pioneer in the health and wellness community), she has a huge waiting area and a room where she and her guests practice hydrotherapy. First you bathe regularly for 30 minutes, and then you step into a second tub for a mud bath.
8.
Aside from raising pigs on her farm in East Sussex, Cate Blanchett’s planning on building an art gallery on her large property. Before pursuing a career in acting, Blanchett was interested in becoming an art collector (so it only seems fitting that she’s adding this unique element to her home). In the museum, she plans on displaying her personal art collection, which features pieces by Zhang Huan, Paula Rego, Rosalie Gascoigne, and Bill Hammond.
9.
And while Blanchett’s building her gallery, Serena Williams already has one solidified on her Miami property. Instead of creating a formal living room, Williams has an art gallery as soon as you walk into her home. It features pieces by artists like Kaws (whose chairs sell at around $100,000–$150,000) and Radcliffe Bailey. Her piece by Bailey, titled “Astro Black,” features an actual rock from the MOON.
10.
In Big Sean’s home (which used to be owned by Guns N’ Roses guitarist Slash), he has a custom nightclub in the basement. It was already there when he moved in, and he made some slight changes from Slash’s original setup. He kept the black interior, the stripper pole, and the skull-shaped lights, but redecorated most of the space. He even replaced the couches because he “didn’t know what the f*ck [Slash] was doing down here.”
11.
John Stamos has collected a LOT of Disney memorabilia over the years, and displays it in an office/studio on his Beverly Hills property. He owns items from Disneyland and Disney World rides like The Haunted Mansion, It’s a Small World, and Snow White’s Enchanted Wish. Stamos even snabbed a gigantic Disney sign from eBay when the site first started.
12.
Adele has a piece of gum chewed by legendary singer Céline Dion framed in her home in California. When Dion did Carpool Karaoke with James Corden back in 2019, he asked her to spit her gum into a piece of paper, and sent it to Adele.
13.
And in Carrie Fisher’s home in California, she collected a ton of eccentric items, placing them around every room, nook, and cranny on the property. In the 2016 documentary Bright Lights, she gave an ultimate tour of her fun house (which was downright iconic). She showed off unique items, like a player piano in the bathroom, funny Prozac art in the kitchen, and a traffic light hanging from a tree in front of her house. The only person who could pull off this brilliant type of celebrity home decor was Carrie Fisher, and Carrie Fisher only!
